The collection encompasses preliminary notes, research material, autograph drafts, revised typescripts, and corrected proofs for Spark's first sixteen novels, from The Comforters (1957) through A Far Cry from Kensington (1988). In addition, the collection includes drafts and typescripts of many of her short stories, plays, poems, and a number of her non-fiction works such as her books on Emily Bronte, Mary Shelley, and John Masefield. Also included is correspondence, photographs, a very large group of press cuttings, and a number of magazine and newspaper issues containing first appearances of her short stories and poems.
